And remember your Travel Insurance - please. By car to KomarnaThere is a motorway from Zagreb all the way to 65 km from Komarna. Get off the motorway at junction Ravca. Take direction Vrgorac and Dubrovnik. This will take you to Ploce and the coastal highway. Continue towards Dubrovnik. Komarna is just off the main North-South highway (E65) that runs along the coast. It is 70 km north of Dubrovnik and 120 km south of Split. There are several options if you want to fly to an airport close to Komarna. Dubrovnik Airport is convenient. There are plenty of flights coming in and good bus connections to Dubrovnik bus station and from there to Komarna. Split Airport, which is also very well connected to the outside world. There are frequent bus connections that go South (busses running between Dubrovnik and Split pass by Komarna). Mostar in Herzegovina. Mostar Airport is close to Komarna but there are few flights coming into this airport. There are often good prices for tickets to Sarajevo airport. Distance to Komarna is 180 km. That will set you back about 150 to 200 Euro in a taxi. There is also several busses from Sarajevo. The ride takes about three hours. The best way to get from the airport to the bus station is by taxi. That will cost 8-10 Euro. Go to top of pageCar RentalWhen I fly into Dubrovnik, I usually rent a car in Komarna from Villa Bili. They have two new Fiat Punto with air-conditioning and ALL insurance included for 280 Euro for one week (2009 prices). Included in the price they will pick you up in Dubrovnik and bring you back again. A car may be booked with us or directly with Villa Bili. The car may also be rented in Komarna for fewer than seven days at a price of 50 Euro per day. It is advisable to book well in advance. When I fly into Zagreb or Split my preferred Car rental is Economy Car Rentals - they have by far the best prices (2009). Whenever renting a car always check that you have the original green insurance paper in the car. Photo copies are not accepted at the border stations. Go to top of pageBy bus and trainIntercity busses run almost every hour during the day-time from the central bus terminals in Split and Dubrovnik. Zagreb Bus Station Timetables. Covers all of Croatia. Dubrovnik Bus Terminal Tel. +385 20 357 020; +385 060 305 070 If you arrive by train you are most likely to arrive at Split Station about 120 km. North of Komarna. Catch a bus heading for Dubrovnik from the bus station by the harbour (Obala Bratstva i Jedinstva 12, Telephone: (+385) 338 483, (+385) 338 486). There is also a train connection to Ploce, 20 km from Komarna. The train comes from Sarajevo where there are connections to Budapest. From Ploce railway station, you can catch a bus towards Dubrovnik and jump of in Komarna, 20 km from Ploce. Croatian train schedules - in English Auto-train to Villach in Austria or to Rijeka in Croatia. Local TransportAlways bring your passport and your insurance papers for the car.The passport is important because Bosnia-Herzegovina is just eight kilometers down the road, and you will have to pass the border on your way to Dubrovnik. Herzegovina borders are everywhere when you drive around. You can look at a map and think that you might avoid crossing the border. Do not rely on it. You might have to backtrack if you did not bring the passport. Taxi ServiceTaxi and Transportation Service Dubrovnik is a company in Dubrovnik that can assist with all sorts of transportation needs. We have a special price for transport to and from Dubrovnik. Neum: (+387) (0) 9884 6978. There are two taxi in Neum with very little to do. If they can understand you, they will come. Try to say "Komarna" and maybe "Apartmani Bili" (best known apartments). That ought to do the job. BussesThe busses may not stop if you do not flag them down. Wave your hand.
